The Country Economics Departments (ECCE) of the African Development Bank (“the Bank”) has lined up several non-lending activities for Eritrea in the 2025/2026 Work Program. These activities include (i) the preparation of Bank flagship Reports including the Eritrea Country Focus Report (CFR), and the Africa Economic Outlook (AEO) Country Note for Eritrea; (ii) preparation of Country and thematic Technical Briefs for Senior Management; (iii) leading policy dialogue with the Government of Eritrea (GoE) on key policy and reform issues; (iv) conducting country and institutional assessments including the Country Risk and Fragility Assessment (CRFA), and the Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA); and (v) preparing knowledge work on topical issues including the “Study on Economic Diversification Strategy”; and (vi) conducting periodic monitoring of the economic environment to inform Bank operations through regular Economic Intelligence Briefs. The non-lending work provides the evidence-base to anchor the Bank’s interventions around key development challenges facing Eritrea.
To support delivery of the non-lending work program, the Bank seeks to recruit a qualified and highly experienced Consultant Economist for an initial period of four (4) months starting December 15, 2025. The consultant will be based in Asmara, Eritrea and will work closely with the Liaison Officer and the Country and Lead Economists in executing the assigned tasks.
