TITLE: Nutrition Assistant for WFP project

TEAM/PROGRAMME: WFP

Location: Barbare, Gura -Damole, and Harana buluk woredas of Bale zone, and Dawekachen woreda of East Bale zone

GRADE: 6

CONTRACT LENGTH: 11 months

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) orintensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process for staff.
 
ROLE PURPOSE:
 
The position holder shall support the technical quality implementation of the TSFP program in the woreda. S/He will mainly be responsible for the bi-weekly/monthly implementation of the TSFP, and outreach works in collaboration with the TSFP Officers and the government Woreda Health Office. Provide on-the-job training for HW/HEW, provide consistent and high-quality technical support in establishing and strengthening IMAM, and assist TSFP to strengthen the implementation of TSFP. S/He will monitor Community Health Workers and volunteers in strengthening the community mobilization and outreach component of the program.

SCOPE OF ROLE:
 
Reports to: TSFP Officer

Role Dimensions: Closely work with Woreda Health offices, PHCU, HPs, and community members/FDAs, and other relevant. 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Management  and Technical Leadership

Working with the TSFP officer and storekeeper to support commodities management and commodity distribution for beneficiaries. 
Makes sure that the health staff have adequate training on the management of acute malnutrition per the national nutrition treatment guideline, 2019
Strengthen the Coordination at the woreda level and among staff
Supporting the TSF program is implemented according to the National protocol, i.e., application of the admission and discharge criteria, closely monitors, and strictly follows anthropometry measurement
Ensures the availability of job aids, reporting formats, therapeutic products, and drugs for program implementation
Creates and maintains relationships with local health and other authorities and links the CMAM program with the existing health structure smoothly.
Works and liaise with local health workers to integrate the CMAM program from the start, coordinates the link of acute malnutrition cases with OTP, SC and TSFP, and facilitates regular registration of beneficiaries and submits on monthly bases Provides a daily/weekly/and monthly overview of drug items, SFP materials and wet ration stocks supplied to beneficiaries
Support nutritional monthly screening of U5 and PLWs
Manages the stock levels of food commodities and all other materials and alerts the logistics promptly as more materials are required.
Responsible for effective logistics management
Reports any problems promptly to the TSFP Officer
Do any other tasks as given by the line manager
 
Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Quality Assurance

Facilitate pre condition for conducting PDM after distribution
Document experiences and challenges encountered in the process of project implementation: capacity building, provision of technical support and demand creation
Conduct regular supportive and joint supportive supervisions to FDCS with the TSFP Officer and respective government partners 
Facilitate regular reviews of projects with the TSFP Officer and other relevant government sectors.
Conduct any related task assigned by the supervisor.
 Prepare, review and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and updates of the project on a timely manner with acceptable quality to the TSFP Officer 
Support and coordinate during the planning and implementation of project-related assessments 
Any other tasks given by line manager

QUALIFICATIONS

BSC/Diploma/LEVEL IV in Nursing or Public Health (Senior Clinical/Public Nurse or above).
 Minimum two years working experience for BSC and three years’ experience for Diploma/LEVEL IV holders, out of which one year experience is directly related to emergency health & nutrition related fields
 
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Essential

Knowledge, training and experience in IMAM/TSFP  and community mobilization/BCC
Demonstrated skills in peer group training, Training of Trainers and development of training materials.
Computer (Microsoft skills), all and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team setting, friendliness and resourcefulness (Teamwork)
Respectful of oneself and others
Quality conscious and ready to learn new ways of doing things
